Franka Batelić will represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song Crazy composed by Branimir Mihaljević on the lyrics of Batelić herself. Today the singer will be guest of HRT music editor and host Zlatko Turkalj on the Second Channel of Croatian radio at 14:00 CET.

"I will represent Croatian Radio and Television and the Republic of Croatia at the Eurovision. On this occasion, I would like to thank the Croatian Radio Television for their invitation and expressed confidence. My team and I are aware of the responsibilities that this participation brings, we are ready to challenge and we will do our very best to present Croatia in the best possible way in Portugal in May", said the singer.

"We believe that this year will continue a successful series of Croatian Radio and Television and the Republic of Croatia on the Eurovision. After Nina Kraljic, who made the final in 2016 and Jacques Houdek's excellent performance last year, we believe that Franka Batelić will achieve our main goal - placement in the final evening and thus to present us in a best way in Lisbon", said the manager of HRT's Eurovision Song Contest Team Tomislav Štengl.

Position 7 in our top 50 is quite interesting. It is the 3rd entry from 2004 to make the top 10 and it is only the only song title that make the top 50 twice - on position 10 is a song with the same title from Russia. There are also several covers of the song in Afrikaans.

HRT’s Facebook has been teasing images of their act all day. In two pictures, the performer is hidden but is clearly wearing a white shirt. This ties in with a picture of Franka wearing a very similar top.

There’s also the hint that Croatia’s act was a former entrant to their national final, Dora.

Franka participated in Dora in 2009 and 2010, finishing 7th both times. Initial reports late last year suggested HRT would bring Dora back again, but that was scrapped for an internal selection after all.
