It’s the Big Five country that’s turned around its flagging fortunes at Eurovision. Now French broadcaster France 2 has revealed details of France‘s new national final Destination Eurovision. And there’s plenty of proof that they are really making an effort.

France 2 held a press conference today where they introduced the three French jury members who will help to select the acts.

In the semi-finals, the acts will be chosen by a panel of six jurors. Three will be French, while the other three will be international. The French jury consists of France’s 2016 star Amir, French-Canadian chanteuse Isabelle Boulay and French Pop Idol winner Christophe Willem. The international half will be made up of Christer Björkman (HoD Sweden), Nicola Caligiore (HoD Italy) and Olga Salamakha (HoD Belarus). The three French jurors were at the press conference and ready to share their enthusiasm for their new roles. Amir told the press conference, “I am very honoured.” #eurovision2018 #eurovision #destinationeurovision

Belarus 2018 🇧🇾 Leonid Bortkevich and Andrey Yeronin submit a song composed in the 60s

An unique entry for the national selection of Belarus is being prepared by the soloist of the new "Pesnyary" lead by Leonid Bortkevich Andrey Yeronin. It was written in the 60s by the legendary first line-up of Pesnyary. According to the will of Vladimir Mulyavin, Leonid Bortkevich has got access to the archive of the founder of the ensemble which remained untouched so far, and this composition was found in it.

"The song that I'm now recording in the studio was composed by Valery Mulyavin, the elder brother of Vladimir, who died in 1973 in tragic circumstances. It were Valery and Vladimir who as like-minded persons have created Pesnyary ensemble (in its early days in 1967 it was called "Lyavony". Probably in the contest of Eurovision the song will sound retro, chanty, slow, no matter if we tried to modernize the arrangement, but I think that there is a real power in this melody. It was John Lennon himself who once told Vladimir Mulyavin that music of "Pesnyary" - is the best thing he had ever heard, "says Andrey Yeronin.

Last year Andrey Yeronin took part at the national selection auditions with the song "Together" jointly with the OTTA Orchestra.

Philipp Kirkorov intends to again try to conquer the Eurovision Song Contest. He has confirmed this intention to the correspondent of Dni.Ru talking behind the scenes of filming of the New Year's TV festival "Song of the Year".

"The other day they came to me with a proposal from one friendly to us country, and I agreed to produce their participant," the pop king admitted. "My Dream Team will do everything possible for a brilliant performance - from the song to the stage production."

The publication speculates that most likely this "friendly country" is Belarus.

Поп-королю поступило интересное предложение. И он, конечно, согласился снова штурмовать конкурс молодых исполнителей.

The Belarusian broadcaster BTRC revealed some details of the selection. The submission period is open until 26 December. Just like last year, Belarusian singers and songwriters are as welcome, as well as foreign or even stateless persons.

At the beginning of January, the country’s legendary live auditions will take place. The jury will decide no later than 14 January which acts will proceed to the final stage of the selection.

The maximum of 15 acts will be selected for the final is 15. However, in recent years, this number hasn’t always been reached as the jury has claimed that there weren’t 15 acts of a sufficient quality. Last year, 13 songs participated in the final; the year before that, only ten. #eurovision #eurovision2018 #belarus
