The competition aims to find France’s act for Lisbon. The competition requires that all entries have at least 70% French lyrics. During today’s press conference it was also confirmed that if the winning song had 100% French lyrics, there would be no partial English translation done for Eurovision.

The contestants will be voted on by a French jury, an international jury and televoters. However, France 2 has not yet confirmed exactly how the voting system will work. #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision #eurovision2018

Earlier this month we learned that @diogopicarra is one of the 26 composers invited by Portuguese broadcaster @rtppt for the 2018 edition of Festival da Canção.

As we breathe deep and try to gather ourselves following this epic news, we’re pausing to give you five reasons why the pop heartthrob should sing his own song at the Portuguese national final for #eurovision. #festivaldacancao #rtp #eurovision2018 #popmusic #portugal #nationalfinal #diogopicarra #popartist

We have just returned from Sofia where we interviewed some of our favourite Bulgarian🇧🇬 stars, who may potentially represent the country at #eurovision in Lisbon next year! One of them is The Voice of Bulgaria (@glasatnabulgaria) finalist @mia.d.official ❤ Watch the interview soon at wiwi.tv 📺 #eurovision2018 #eurovisionsongcontest #esc

The show will largely follow the same format as the 2017 national final. There will be two semi-finals and one final from which the winner will be selected. The semi-finals will be held on 10 and 17 February, while the grand final will be held on 24 February.

Applications for the contest have opened today. Interested acts will have a long time to work on their submissions — entries won’t close until 15 January 2018, in more than three months time. #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision #eurovision2018 #vidbir #vidbir2018

It’s the Balkan nation that won Eurovision on its debut in 2007. Now Serbia‘s broadcaster RTS has confirmed the return of Beovizija, the national final that selected Marija Serifovic with “Molitva” for Eurovision 2007. The Beovizija format was last used in 2009.
The news was confirmed by RTS’s entertainment editor Olivera Kovacevic. Speaking to Blic news, she confirmed that entries are now open for the national final. #beovizija2018 #beovizija #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision #eurovision2018

Jack has, in the past, made it clear in several of his stand-up shows that he is indeed a big fan of Eurovision, despite poor results for the United Kingdom. But he recently took his love for the contest to a whole new level.

The popular comedian reached out to Sunstroke Project and asked them to record a special greeting for two friends who share a birthday. #eurovision #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision2018

With her dreamy, radio-friendly track “City Lights”, the teen singer climbed the charts in sixteen different territories, and even reached No. 1 in Belgium and Lithuania. Her on-trend track also reached the Top Ten in Iceland and Finland, and peaked inside the Top 40 in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden and Spain.

Her on-point production and mainstream sound clearly serve her well even off the Eurovision stage. With her debut album in the pipeline, the future seems bright for this starlet who spent her summer courting gigs in Belgium and Germany. It’s no wonder legendary Hunger Games composer James Newton Howard recently performed alongside her on Belgian TV, singing her praises loud and clear afterwards. #eurovision #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision2018

September signals many things — including the start of a new edition of the international talent show The Voice in Portugal. After last year’s ratings success, the show is back and wiwibloggs has its eyes glued to some of the fresh talent that we would love to see in the country’s Eurovision 2018 selection Festival da Canção.

Last year, six out of the sixteen singers in the revamped Festival da Canção came from the The Voice. Today we trawled social media and scanned fan message boards in the hopes of unearthing this year’s fan favourites who just might become the next Salvador Sobral (and maybe influence some FdC composers along the way). #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision2018 #esc2018 #eurovision #festivaldacancao

During the first season of Vidbir in 2016, Ukraine wound up selecting a Eurovision winner in the form of Jamala, whose “1944” drew international headlines before the contest had even ended.

And now commercial broadcaster STB has revealed that Ukraine will select its Eurovision 2018 act through the show once more, looking past O.Torvald’s lacklustre 24th place finish in May.

STB and cash-strapped state broadcaster UA:PBC began broadcasting television commercials for Vidbir 2018 last weekend. #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision2018 #eurovision #vidbir #vidbir2018

“I almost fell out of my chair in excitement and awe,” the Dane told DR. “And of course I accepted immediately. You don’t have to think about it with such an offer.” The DR boss, who oversaw the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, says that his team’s focus on new media paved the way for his membership to the reference group. “We were good at involving new media when we were hosts in 2014. No one else has done that to such an extent and I would love to keep working with that.” #eurovision #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision2018

Reports suggest that the German songsmith had lined up Hanka Paldum to perform his song. When contacted by Dnevni Avaz, Paldum — a popular folk singer — confirmed that the story was true.

However, despite Siegel’s commitment to fund the project, BHRT turned down the offer. But it’s not a case of “Just Get Out of My Life”. The beleaguered TV network is in dire financial trouble. It owes massive debts, and as a result must endure punitive sanctions. #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision #eurovision2018

Amongst the most familiar names involved is Icelandic fan favourite, Greta Salóme. Emmelie de Forest participated in the songwriting camp last year and co-wrote Lucie Jones’ “Never Give Up on You”. Could Greta do the same and return to Eurovision behind the scenes?

Speaking of Emmelie, part of the songwriting team for “Only Teardrops”, Lisa Cabble and Julia Jakobsen, have also been involved in this year’s camp. Other names with Eurovision connections include Ashley Hicklin (writer of “Me and My Guitar” and Axel Hirsoux’s “Mother”) and Chief1 (“Should’ve Known Better”). #eurovision2018 #eurovisionsongcontest #esc #eurovision #bbceurovision #gretasalome @gretasalome
